A Personal Representative is an individual who has been designated in a Will or by a court to administer the Estate of a deceased individual. The activities of the Personal Representative are supervised by the Probate Court.

The principle duties of the personal representative are:

  1. to inventory and collect the assets of the decedent;
  2. to manage the assets during administration;
  3. to receive and pay the claims of creditors and tax collectors; and
  4. to distribute the remaining assets to those entitled.
